Leader
The player who bets first.
The Leader has a disadvantage because he/she is the first to act.
Leak
To show one's hole cards. This usually happens unknowingly. A leak is also someone’s poor playing, or a tendency they have that costs them money.
“A Leak occurred so we had to re-deal.”
“Mike’s Leak is that he gets too attached to AK in big pots.”
Lie
To bluff.
“I saw right through his Lie .”
Limit
A variant of poker games where the betting is in fixed increments.
“We were playing Limit Hold'em.”
Limp
To call, rather than raise, when entering the pot. This is also referred to as to “Limp In” when the first person to speak just calls the Big Blind.
“Dave just Limped In to the pot.”
Little Blind
The first and smallest blind bet of a hand.
Big Blind is usually twice the amount of the Little Blind.
Live Hand
A hand that may win the pot.
“My flush was definitely a Live Hand .”
Live Cards
In Stud Games, cards that have not been seen and are still in play.
“There were only two Live Cards that could help me.”
Loose
A player who often calls.
“Anthony is not a Loose player.”
Low Ball
A form of draw poker where the lowest hand wins the pot.
In Low Ball poker, not only high ranking hands can win.
Luck
The illusion that you have a chance of winning.
“If my Luck holds up, I could win this tournament.”
