Jack

A face card that ranks above ten and below Queen.

A Jack is sometimes referred to as a “hook”.

Jack-it-up

To raise.

“I'll Jack-it-up to $100, then we'll see who stays in.”

Jackpot

A special bonus paid out to the loser of a hand if he or she is beaten by a good hand. The jackpot comes from part of the rake.

“He didn't win the hand, but the Jackpot made it worthwhile.”

Jacks Full

A full house that consists of three Jacks and another pair.

“I had Jacks Full of nines.”

Jackson Five

A Poker hand that consists of a Jack and a five of the same suit.

“The Jackson Five completed my flush.”

Jam

To go all-in in a no-limit game.

“I decided it was time to Jam, or bust.”

Joker Poker

Poker played with the Joker as wild.
